Valentine Recipe Idea

A few weeks ago, I attended a class taught by STL Veg Girl, Caryn Dugan.  I sampled tofu and seitan dishes… and actually LOVED them!  I tried recreating one of her amazing recipes at our annual Pinks and Drinks girls get-together before Valentine’s Day.

Chocolate Mousse

The chocolate mousse was a hit!  After requests, I mailed the recipe as a Valentine.  I used Carina Gardner’s recipe card from Jessica Sprague’s digital shoppe as a base for the text.  On the back, I paired a journaling card from the Blowing Kisses collection with my favorite dessert quote about friendship.

This quick and easy Valentine gift idea also gave me the chance to test out the print and cut tools on the Silhouette… love the ability to cut out any digital shape I want!  I used this feature to make the little banner tags and scalloped recipe note!

If you ever have a chance to take one of Caryn’s classes, you won’t regret it!  Love having delicious ideas on how to accomplish my goal of incorporating more plant based foods into my diet.

Valentine Decorations

Is it just me or does winter start to feel dreadfully long by the time Valentine’s Day rolls around?  Despite the snow still on the ground, these beautiful tulips make it feel more like Spring.

Flower displays happen to be one of my favorite ways to decorate for Valentine’s Day.

Here’s a peak at an evening Valentine table setting I used for Pinks and Drinks one year:

Candle light, flowers (real and fake), and crystal… a tried and true recipe for easy, beautiful decor!

Remember our manzanita tree decked out with Halloween decor? Here it is transformed for Valentine’s Day:

One last decorating idea: create a display featuring treasured cards collected over the years.  This past year, my Dad helped me transform this antique frame leftover from my Great-Aunt’s painting stash into a fully functional display piece.  (He used piano wire to create a backing grid!)  I clipped my favorite Valentines to this frame using a variety of small, decorative clothespins.

Valentine Party Ideas: Pinks and Drinks Invitation

As you might have seen in my Instagram feed, we are decorated for Valentine’s Day!  Each February, I look forward to pulling out treasured Valentine’s I’ve received from family and friends over the years.  I came across an invitation I sent out nearly 4 years ago and couldn’t resist sharing it with you.

The inspiration for “Pinks and Drinks” came from the Hostess with the Mostess blog I came across back in 2008: Valentine’s Day Party Invites.  Here was my DIY card version:

This stair step card was embellished using Martha Stewart punches, rubber stamps, and a Nestability die.

I love how dimensional this card turned out!
